Hello, so I haven't done a bunch of research yet, but maybe this would be a good topic for others in my situation to find...
We have a HICV timeshare through Orange Lake, FL for 94,000 points per year. We paid about $12k 4 years ago. I've paid it off through them (still have a reduced rate loan elsewhere from it). Big mistake...yes we've used it but realize the huge mistake and now I want OUT.
So...what's best? (1) I've read about giving it back is possible. (2) I see these websites for "sell your timeshare", (3) I read about people renting out their points... What would be best to limit my loss?
Any suggested links to read up on options? Thanks!

Thanks for adding me.
Thanks for adding me. We are currently staying at the Orange Lake resort. We attended an "Owners Update". It was more of a "We're switching to points and we want you to buy more points and switch from your current deed to a "trust deed". After truly listening to their sales pitch and asking direct questions, I feel that our current ownership holds more options and leverage of use then the one they were offering. Who else feels the same?

Can free stays still be cancelled?
Can free stays still be cancelled? If not, does anyone know when the policy changed? I noticed the following in the fine print:
"Please be aware complimentary stays are final bookings. Any changes or cancellations to these reservations will result in the forfeit of your free stay."

Hubby and I joined yesterday after 6 hrs (neither one of us wanted to buy without researching) and being told we have “today” only to receive the perks such as $219/319 for last call reservations, added points, etc.
We got 40K points/yr (which is worthless after reviewing what this gives us) plus 80K bonus pts given in March 2019 for $11K with 10% down.
After researching (thanks to your site and others) we want OUT.
What do we have to do to cancel?
Will we get our $1K downpayment back? If so when?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I recently purchased a timeshare that was supposed to come with 2018 use and was told the following: "We reached out to the resort and they advised they had automatically banked the points with RCI which makes the points unavailable for 2018."
Can you bank points with RCI? I was under the impression that HICV points stayed in your HICV account until you used them for RCI?

So after finding this forum and TUG (unfortunately to late to rescind, I may add) I realized my husband and I were duped for our purchase of $12k for $50,000 points at Orange Lake in late August. I am not sure what our MF is off the top of my head. We are looking to vacation more often, preferably international travel with our 4 children, however I see now that 50k in points will get you practically nothing and neither will the 100k when we rollover our points til next year. When looking through the 2018 catalog during the presentation the points were misrepresented as being during the whole stay/vs per night.
My question is if we pay off the full balance next year would it be best to just resell back to Orange Lake and then find another reseller for more points? I also have the IHG credit card so I was looking to earn more points that way, but do those points roll into your HICV account or just your IHG rewards? I know you can rollover your points to IHG after the first two years, so those points would add to whatever I already have accumulated in IHG through the credit card?
How do I make the most of this upsetting situation when the end goal is to travel smart and save money with such a large family.

I'm curious to know what your favorite HICV resort is and why.
I'm curious to know what your favorite HICV resort is and why. I'm sure this has been a recurring post here, but maybe not recently. Mine is my home resort of Cape Canaveral Beach Resort. It has the beach, nice pool area with slides & lazy river, and kids inside play area. It is within walking distance Jetty park, near Kennedy Space Center and is within an hour of the Orlando parks. It is easy to have several fun and relaxing days at the resort during the week, which helps to provide vacation that doesn't break the bank. So one vote for CCBR.

We just bought 50,000 points for 11000.
We just bought 50,000 points for 11000.00 at hicv in myrtle beach. I'm still trying to understand the points system. My yearly mg is 390.00.. I geuss what I'm asking is ,what type of vacation can we get for what we bought . I'm seriously thinking about rescinding, as today is our 5th day 😔
