I have a Priceline credit card and use Priceline regularly. The Priceline credit card gives 2% cash back on all purchases, and a 10% bonus when you use the points for travel (making the card 2.2% cash back if you do enough travel). When you redeem points for Priceline Express Deals, you get 33% off (making it 3.3% cash back for Priceline purchases if you do enough of those). Then you also get 5% cash back for Priceline Express deal purchases. It's the best credit card on the planet.

I have heard people say you can give back your property to HIVC if it is paid off.

Does anyone know the details. i.e. Will they take any property?

Is this a standard that is always the same or case by case?

I was pitched the RCI program today and did a comparison of availability at HICV vs. RCI to demonstrate my point that RCI availability is terrible compared to internal exchanges.

Details on the complete lack of availability...Galveston is a great example - HICV has dozens of rooms available at a specific resort on a specific day vs. RCI has nothing in any resort for the entire month of July.

RCI is close to useless.

Orange Lake - All Villages search issue: I recently noticed a problem searching availability where it only shows a small number of 3BR and 4BR options unless I list a specific village or specify a unit size. I don't remember seeing that issue before - anybody else notice a change or see that problem?

I have a unit in Galveston with 168.

I have a unit in Galveston with 168.000 points/yr; I've paid them off but I used it with a personal loan with my bank. I am almost done paying it all off at this point and will do so but wondering if it's worth it to keep it, with all the maintenance fees etc, since we don't vacation as often as we used to, so my points end up unused. We end up transferring and pay for occasional holiday inn stays.

Am I really reading that this is only worth about $500? What's the best way of doing this on the up and up? I would keep it to have it handy if it was truly paid off, I just hate paying like $900/year fees. If I can only get rid of it for $500 I kinda feel screwed over, but I guess if that's the way the cookie crumbles..

Oh, forgot to ask, we were told also that 3rd party sells were now charged to bring into your account, to fight the ebay, etc sells by HICV. IIRC, something like $1 per ten points as a one time fee if you bought a used property and wanted to integrate it into the points. Sales guy said it went into effect April of 2017.

Also, he said we couldn't use that buy in to convert our SIlverleaf.

Did I get duped or anyone have documentation around this?

Thanks

We have owned at Cape Canaveral Beach Resort for years but have found that we no longer have use for timeshare travel based on our travel preferences. What advice could you give for selling a 2br/2ba floating red annual unit worth 140K points? We paid off the loan years ago and still have the points available for 2017. Thanks for any advice!

A new owner recently confirmed that Point Shield is applied to reservations made before gaining Elite Status if you cancel after getting Elite status - when you gain Elite status, all of your previous reservations show up as having Point Shield, but this is the first time I've seen a person successfully cancel and get all of their points back.

Just joined the list and thanks for all of the valuable info here.

Just joined the list and thanks for all of the valuable info here. We've been a Silverleaf owner for 20 years and to convert to points, we bought 124k points at Las Vegas, bought a returned unit.

A couple of questions to verify what the sales guy told us and clarifications from people with experience on on HICV.

We were told we could rent points and it would go towards the maintenance, which makes more sense vs just paying the maintenance.

We were also told that we locked in our cost of points for a year, and we could buy a minimum of 15000 points in 5k blocks each year to extend that lock in.

Also, per the paperwork, the 5:4 ratio of banking the points goes both ways, that we can move points from my IHG account and use for HICV. I accrue a lot of points as a spire elite member through my travel with work. This seems to be a better way to get points vs buying property, at least until we plan to retire.

Thanks again and I look forward to getting educated on all of this :)

Is it possible to add on to an existing reservation without paying the $59 again?

Is it possible to add on to an existing reservation without paying the $59 again? I have a booking that is several months out and was looking to cancel and rebook the same reservation arriving one day earlier - wondering if anyone has had any luck making this kind of change?
