I recently purchased a timeshare that was supposed to come with 2018 use and was told the following: "We reached out to the resort and they advised they had automatically banked the points with RCI which makes the points unavailable for 2018."

Can you bank points with RCI? I was under the impression that HICV points stayed in your HICV account until you used them for RCI?

  1. Scott, are you asking for yourself? Which resort?
They maybe didn't really reach out to the resort, or reached out to the wrong one?
My understanding is the same as yours although I've never booked either way.

  2. Bob Diver For me, Lake Geneva. I've reached out to my Elite counselor as well. I think the seller is just making stuff up because the previous owner used the points and there was a mistake in the listing.

  3. My Elite counselor confirmed that the previous owner used some of the points (which was helpful, since I actually asked whether it was possible to bank points to RCI) - I told the seller and asked for them to request transfer of the remaining points and a pro-rated refund of maintenance based on the number of points that transferred. They agreed, so I am happy. Bottom line, HICV points cannot be banked to RCI as we all suspected.
