So I have 272,000 points at Lake Geneva, Smoky Mountain and South Beach. I bought these back in 2010-2011. What is the best way to get to 300,000 for elite status without spending a small fortune? Thanks.
The most recent guidance I have from HICV (as of April 2017 change) is $5K per 25K you want to make eligible for status, so $55K. I converted 1M points in January 2017 with a $6K purchase of 15K points, but I'm not aware of how much of a discount off of the $55K is possible.
At 300K, you are Preferred and not Elite, and in my opinion it's not worth anywhere near $6K, 1M Elite gets you unlimited upgrades, a free 7-night stay per year, and $5 rental points vs.300K Preferred gets you only 1 upgrade and a free 3-night stay per year.
