Hello everyone
I just purchased a holiday inn club vacation package from Cape Canaveral 2 bedroom villa pool view every other year for 12000. I knew that I have 10 days to change my mind and the information that I have been reading is overwhelming. I am leaning towards rescinding however I have a few questions if anyone can help me out. One it sounds like my salesperson got me on false information. She told me there were friends and family rates and also a cash purchase option if I didn't want to use my points. She said the discount are huge per week and actually she sales the cash purchase option for a profit. I have not seen anyone mentioned this on the internet at all and it seem like it would be something talked about a lot as a benefit. Has anyone every heard or uses the cash purchase option? If is the discounts as good as she says under 300 for a week?
Also she told me my 100000 points would get me 4 weeks every other year after reviewing the points to stay in other holiday inn clubs that seems nearly impossible! Now I'm questioning everything that I was told on tour. By the way I completed my tour at Orange Lake on a promotion.
My second question is if I were to rescind and purchase resale am I still able to use points and the benefits of HICV? Such as the cash option(if that's true), discounts at hotels and etc.
If I do decide to go with a resale how do you make sure it's legitimate and not in jeopardy of being foreclosed.
Any other helpful additional information will also be greatly appreciated.
I have bought on resale market three times. On one of the transfers there was a significant glitch. It resolved with me getting a week vacation at no charge, and a refund of my purchase price - twice. Never did figure out what happened or why, and I had to go to the BBB in Wisconsin to get assistance on the refund but in the end I lost nothing and just purchased another week.
ReplyDeleteInitially we bought for points. Our sales gal was great and we "planned" multiple vacations with her using her phone apps and pretend points. We were sold on the diversity of the HICV points system. I didn't really understand the status/levels of ownership until I finally received access to the website to start booking and seeing the mechanics of the design. Everything she sold us on, I have capitalized on. We traveled over 35 days with about 300K points. There is a learning curve (maybe I'm old) to the system and the bookings, and you have to be flexible on travel plans, but we like what we have so far... It's hard to really see what you've purchased until they give you access to the booking website.

ReplyDeleteCarol, your experience has been similar to mine. I had two weeks at the old RON JON Cape Caribe resort before it was bought out by HICV. When it was purchased RON JON owners had the opportunity to switch to the points with no risk. I was skeptical but we are very happy with the points system. We have traveled to many HICV resorts and have always been happy. Consistent quality across the brand is what we have found. Much greater value and flexibility in the points system. Very happy
