Does anybody here regularly use HICV points to book through RCI?

Does anybody here regularly use HICV points to book through RCI?

I personally have never used HICV points to make a RCI reservation - HICV internal availability is literally 100x-1000x that of RCI, so I don't even bother looking outside of HICV.

I'm wondering if other people have had better luck?

  1. I have tried many times to find something worthwhile on RCI and can never find what I'm looking for. Inventory is dismal. It seems that the only units for trade on RCI are units you wouldn't want.

  2. I've used RCI to book Manhattan Club; Lake Wanaka, (NZ); Carlsbad , CA; Reno, NV; Heavenly Valley; and three different units in Las Vegas. Many of these were booked on last call (cash only) or at highly discounted points prices.

One weekend I even used RCI to book the Desert Club in Las Vegas - they had availability in a 1BR that HICV did not.

  3. I was just told by the former HICV agent that HICV chooses which RCI resorts to make available to Club members. When I go into the RCI website through HICV portal the selection is not very good. Also the exchange cost is higher than RCI members.

I have a two-bdrm (12th week) in the West Village that I just want to give away to someone who would pay the closing and transfer fees. About five yrs ago, I bought 1 day (15,000 pts) at Lake Geneva to get into a points accounts. I'm paying over $1500 CAD for one week and its just not worth it to me anymore.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
